The new AutoCAD plugin for LogiKal enables certain LogiKal functions within AutoCAD.
Requirements for using the new AutoCAD plugin:
– AutoCAD 2015 or later.
– LogiKal CAD Suite 2D license
Installing the AutoCAD Plugin
First, install the AutoCAD plugin.
To do so, click on “Settings” > “Additional settings” in the project center file menu.
Select the “Interfaces” tab.
In the “AutoCAD plugin” area click on the “Install” button.
Setting up the AutoCAD Plugin
The new LogiKal toolbar is located in the lower area.
Click on the “Plugin configuration” button and enter the path of your LogiKal version.
New in the plugin are the user settings and most of the functions in the “Positions” area. These are directly linked to LogiKal. Changes made here are automatically adopted in the LogiKal project.
Layer Transfer to AutoCAD
By the following settings in the LogiKal Cross Section function different elements are drawn on separate layers.
When the layer doesn’t exist in AutoCAD, the elements are drawn in the colour determined in LogiKal.
If the layer already exists in AutoCAD and any other colour but „Standard“ is allocated in LogiKal, then AutoCAD will apply the colour „By Layer“.
You may also add a dimension style via dxf file.
Therefore select under “Dimension Style for AutoCAD Transfer (applied from specified file)” a dxf file to import the data.
3D Export to AutoCAD
While exporting elements in 3D to AutoCAD a huge file set is being generated. In detailed export mode a 3D-modell is created for every profile and every gasket. In doing so, it can happen quickly that in case of a 50m * 15m curtain wall more than 25000 objects accumulate, consisting of several hundreds of areas each.
The export of a complete curtain wall with all details can thus take some time.
For big curtain walls it is therefore recommended to use the much simplified export mode, which is a lot faster. In the simplified mode, profiles are exported with a highly simplified contour line (hence the name), making the data volume to process significantly smaller.
