Our Managing Director Dean Hodges has long been a key member of the GM Fundraising charity team, which organises events within this industry to raise money for the Hope House Children’s Hospices in Oswestry and Conwy.

Never one to turn down a challenge, he has just returned from a victorious weekend taking part in round two of the GM Fundraising charity Golf Cup. Held this time at Quinta do Lago in Portugal, this event is designed to replicate the Ryder Cup, and the rivalry between the two teams is no less intense than it is between the USA and Europe.

Playing for the ‘challengers’, Dean was taking on a GMF team which included Business Micros’ MD Graeme Bailey, so the pressure was really on. Despite a nervy final day, the challengers did enough over the first two days to hang on for a very sweet victory which avenged their loss in the inaugural Golf Cup in 2016.

Dean is now swapping his golf shoes for cycle shoes though and turning his attention to the next of the GM Fundraising’s epic charity bike rides taking place in 2019 and christened ‘From Russia With Hope’.

As the name suggests, this ride will start from St Petersburg in Russia and take in 10 countries over 10 days as the team rides across the Baltic States and Scandinavia on their way to Hope House in Oswestry.

While the Golf Day raises funds by asking the competitors to contribute, the bike ride relies on sponsorship so very soon Dean will be launching his fundraising appeal. All the details and the sponsorship page will be released very soon.
